We hope these lessons have helped you understand wildfire better, and have given you the information you need to improve your family's safety against wildfire loss. For more information, we encourage you to use all the tools available on the Firewise Home Page and to conduct your own Internet searches about wildfire. You will find information under "wildfire," "wildfire mitigation," "wildfire safety," and many other search terms.
Take our Firewise Quiz, "How Firewise Are You?" to see what you have learned.
Here are some things you can do to get things started in your community:
- Prepare reports for your school on being Firewise so that others can learn from your expertise.
- See if you can start a service club at school or in your community to work on projects in your neighborhood.
- Elderly neighbors have a difficult time preparing their homes for wildfire season. Volunteering to help is a great way to gain experience and help others.
- Share your knowledge with Boy and Girl Scouts or church groups that work on service projects.
- Participate in MyFirewise, contacting recognized communities in their neighborhoods to see if there are things that could be done to help locally.
